After 2 months of waiting, Snow Writer is finally for sale on the app store!

If you haven’t looked at the screen shots, our app basically simulates writing your name in the snow, plus text entry for it to write for you, plus a “hit the bottles in the backyard” game. We’ll leave it up to you as to what you’re writing with!

Like some of the other apps out there, we received a rejection 2 weeks after submitting due to objectionable content! We thought that was strange after having seen Pee Monkey Jungle Fire, Pee Monkey Toilet Trainer, Drunk Sniper, and Urine Sniper. The objectionable content provided to us was a screen shot of the app in action, shown here.

So we responded with an email asking for the precise problem and pointed out that the apps above had been approved and were therefore not objectionable! There’s even music on the topic in the music store. Almost immediately we received a response that said our app needed further time for review. That got our hopes up!

But the weeks dragged on. We sent three more weekly emails to ask whats up and received two more form-letter replies. We pointed out that Urine Sniper was approved for an update the very week we were rejected! (FYI they seem to have been pulled from the store, they had bunny slippers in their image).

Finally, 5 weeks after we submitted Snow Writer we got a phone call from Apple to tell us what was wrong! In a nutshell, “its the shoes.”

Now we thought Snow Writer would be outrageous and controversial, in fact we hoped so! We wanted to make something fun that was also fun to talk about, well for guys at least. Perhaps it’s distasteful to some, but everyone who’s seen it laughed, women included (and they don’t laugh at the bikini apps out there). We thought our app was on a par with the clean dirty jokes you hear in church!

Apple doesn’t think so. They are drawing the line at having a “human element” in the image. Cartoon animals are ok, but human shoes, pants, body parts, and silhouettes are not.

What to do? Without the shoes, the joke is lost. So, we decided on “bear” feet (pun intended) and what the heck, duck feet, frog feet, fly feet, horse feet, and of course dog feet too!

Ironically, in the end, we think our app is more fun! Choose the feet that best express your mood and use Snow Writer to text your friends! And have fun with the game!
